Stakeholders Warn 9/11 Deadline Approaching

Two major workers groups warned last week that the deadline is approaching for responders to register with the New York State Workers' Compensation Board (SWCB) for benefits covering future illnesses stemming from the cleanup and rescue work at Ground Zero.The New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH) said the "WTC-12" registration must be filed by 11: 59 p.m. (EDT) Sept. 11 for responders to become eligible for indemnity benefits and health care payments in the event they later become ill.The deadline applies to paid responders and volunteers who  worked at the s...
