A bill that would make it easier to issue stop-worker orders and make it more costly for employers that shirk their workers' compensation responsibilities has passed the Illinois House and is now in a Senate committee.
House Bill 269, sponsored by Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea, has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee. After passing the House by a vote of 104-10, it's expected to see quick action in the Senate, which also is controlled by Democrats.
