Beacon Mutual CEO James Rosati to Retire

James V. Rosati, president and chief executive officer of the Beacon Mutual Insurance Co., will retire on July 1, the company announced.

Beacon’s board of directors selected Chief Operating Officer Brian J. Spero to succeed Rosati as president and CEO, the Providence Journal reported. Rajani Mahadevan, currently the vice president of information systems, will become COO.
Spero has been with the company for eight years and served four years as COO; Mahadevan has been there for 16 years.
Rosati was appointed in 2007 as president and CEO of Beacon, Rhode Island’s largest workers’ compensation insurer. Rosati had served as campaign finance manager for Donald Carcieri, who was Rhode Island’s governor at the time.
Rosati has been an investment banking partner with Providence-based Riparian Partners.
He also served on the board of directors of the Providence Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and chaired the board of directors of the Rhode Island Airport Corp., a public agency that oversees the regulatory and financial management of six state-owned airports.
