Former workers' compensation attorney Arthur O. Kane, a philanthropist who gave millions to support the University of Chicago and its Law School, died on Oct. 1 "peacefully in his sleep," according to an obituary in the Chicago Tribune. He was 98.
Kane was founder of the Kane, Doy & Harrington law firm located on Chicago's famous Loop and an authority on workers' compensation law. He once said that that his law firm handled 10% of all workers' compensation claims in Illinois, according to an obituary by the University of Chicago.
