Endurance Specialty Holdings reported that gross premiums surged to $147 million in the first quarter, an increase largely attributed to its workers' compensation business.
The company's workers' compensation business, which began in the second quarter of 2006, added $61.6 million of additional gross premiums written in the first quarter, the insurer reported Wednesday.
The remaining lines of business in the insurance segment grew 6.5% over the same year-to-year period.
