An auto repair shop in Manheim has been hit with trunkful of workplace safety violation citations by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to a report by WPMT 43 News.
OSHA issued 31 serious citations against Dent Wizard International after a December 2015 inspection that was prompted by a complaint about the safety of the outfit’s spray-painting operations.
One of the most serious citations was for installing heat lamps in spray-painting booths, which OSHA said put workers at serious risk of fire hazard, according to the report.
The company was also cited for improperly storing combustible waste and not removing the containers on a daily basis, and allowing its workers to use sprays that contained toxic compounds that could cause breathing difficulties and posed a cancer risk.
OSHA also said the company had failed to train its workers in chemical hazards and failed to evaluate the workplace for respiratory hazards.
Dent Wizard had also failed to ensure that its spray-painting areas were built with fire-resistant materials, had sprinklers and dust-tight lighting, wiring and breaker boxes.
Bridgeton, Missouri-based Dent Wizard is the largest auto reconditioning business in the U.S., employing 1,600 technicians in the U.S. and Canada.
