“According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, two of the main indicators of surgical quality are whether patients are readmitted or reoperated upon after a surgical procedure,” said John Ruser, president and CEO of WCRI. “However, the research on these important indicators is limited for workers’ compensation patients who undergo lumbar spine surgery. In this session, we look forward to sharing preliminary research on this important topic.”

WCRI said the session will cover readmission and reoperation rates in workers’ compensation for lumbar spine surgery. The session will also explore variation among states and the implications for payers, injured workers and policymakers.

The WCRI conference is March 5-6 at the Westin Copley Place in Boston.

A discounted, early-bird conference registration rate and a special conference hotel rate are available for a limited time. To learn more or to register, visit https://conference.wcrinet.org.
