W. Thacher Brown has
been elected to the board of directors of Harleysville Group Inc.
(Nasdaq: HGIC), while Michael L. Lapeyrouse has been elected to the board of
Harleysville Mutual Insurance Company, the owner of 56 percent of the shares
of Harleysville Group. Brown and Lapeyrouse have been elected to terms that
run through April 2005.
Brown has served as a director for Harleysville Mutual since 1994, and
will continue to serve in that role. He is president and chief executive
