DIR Says New Refinery Safety Rules Strictest in Nation

A regulation adopted by the California Department of Industrial Relations requires refineries to adopt new process standards aimed at preventing accidents such as the 2012 chemical release and fire at a Chevron refinery in Richmond in 2012.  In a press release Thursday, the department called the new rule a “landmark regulation” that will strengthen workplace safety and health at oil refineries across the state.  “This is the most protective regulation in the nation for the safety and health of refinery workers and surrounding communities,” stated DIR Directo...
