He is remembered by colleagues as an excellent attorney, a family man and a mensch.

"He was a fine gentleman — a mensch — and I know he cared a lot about his clients," said Paul E. Alpert, a trial judge in Baltimore and friend of Siegel's since high school. The two were in the same high school fraternity, Sigma Phi, where Siegel met a group of lifelong friends.

"He had an outstanding reputation as a workers' comp attorney," Alpert said.

Harvey Holzman, a lawyer in Pikesville, Maryland, also met Siegel in Sigma Phi.

He echoed Alpert's sentiment — "he really cared about his clients" — and added that "he was a very dynamic and caring individual."

Born, reared and educated in Baltimore, Siegel practiced in an office on Lexington Street. He represented injured workers and clients in personal injury lawsuits for about 50 years.
