The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation on Friday announced that its board of directors approved a 7% rate reduction for private employers, effective July 1.
The monopolistic carrier said employers will pay about $67 million less for comp coverage next year as a result of the sixth consecutive rate cut since 2019.
Gov. Mike DeWine credited employers’ dedication to workplace safety and the state’s strong economic position for the rate cut. BWC Administrator and CEO John Logue also said the reduction is evidence of the state’s commitment to workplace safety.
