Members of the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama would be allowed to purchase up to two years of service credit to cover time missed from work while recovering from an occupational injury under a bill sent to Gov. Robert J. Bentley.
House Bill 29, by Rep. Randy Wood, R-Anniston, would require a state or municipal employee participating in the retirement system receive benefits for the injury under the state's Workers' Compensation Act and return to his or her at-injury employer within one year of cessation of those benefits.
