Truck Drivers Protest Independent Contractor Status

About three dozen truck drivers staged a protest on Tuesday at the Port of Savannah because of their status as independent contractors, according to a local news report.The truck drivers say their status deprives them of workers’ compensation benefits and prevents them from negotiating their pay. They want Curtis Foltz, executive director of the Georgia Ports Authority, to meet with them to discuss their concerns.
