The New York Daily News reported Thursday that Marjan Kasapinov, 63, pleaded not guilty after being charged with failure to pay prevailing wages, offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, and failure to secure worker’s compensation insurance.

If convicted, he could face up to four years in prison, be barred from public works for five years, and be forced to pay back wages, the newspaper reported.

Kasapinov's EMLO Corp., based in New Jersey, was a subcontractor at LaGuardia in 2014 and 2015, tasked with removing asbestos at two hangars as part of a major renovation at the airport. He filed documents that covered up underpayment to 28 workers, authorities said.
