The manager of a used car dealership was ordered to serve a year in jail for stealing more than $76,000 in workers' compensation benefits, according to the Washington state Department of Labor and Industries.
A jury last month convicted Gary Bruce Farnworth II, 48, on two felony counts of first degree theft. The jury's finding that the crimes were a "major economic offense" allowed Spokane Superior Court Judge Annette Plese to sentence Farnworth to a year in jail on Monday.
L&I said the standard sentence for the crimes is a jail sentence of two to six months.
