Federal agents last week raided the corporate offices of a pharmacy network that has been the subject of a fraud investigation and whose owners are charged in a kickback scheme.
The FBI searched the Dallas offices of Next Health, which owned a network of testing labs and is already facing fraud accusations from a major insurer, the Dallas News site reported.
Andrew Hillman and Semyon Narosov, who reportedly control the business, have also been named in an unrelated case in which physicians allegedly accepted bribes to refer workers' compensation and other patients to Forest Park Medical Centers for specialty treatment. That investigation led to the indictment of 21 people, including a prominent Texas workers' compensation attorney.
The investigations are part of a nationwide dragnet by federal authorities into health care fraud, which has resulted in the arrest of more than 600 people.
In the Next Health raid, a Dallas FBI agent said in a recent court hearing that the bureau is looking at whether Next Health paid kickbacks to doctors for referring patients to the company’s pharmacies, the newspaper reported.
