The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health reminds employers of their duty to protect workers from unhealthy air due to wildfire smoke, as several fires are negatively impacting air quality throughout Los Angeles County.
The agency commonly known as Cal/OSHA said employers must monitor air quality, adjust work practices and provide N-95 respirators for voluntary use as appropriate.
Cal/OSHA’s wildfire smoke exposure standard requires that employers monitor the air quality index for particulate matter 2.5 micrometers and smaller before and throughout the work shift.
