Daniel Judson

Daniel Judson will leave the Division of Insurance on Feb. 24 and begin his job at the rating bureau the following week.

Judson has been insurance commissioner since April 2015. He spent 15 years with the Division of Insurance over the course of his career, including a stint as general counsel. Immediately before becoming insurance commissioner, though, he worked in the private sector as the president of Massachusetts' high risk pool for auto insurance, Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers.

He also worked as a partner at Morrison Mahoney LLP and as a compliance manager at Coverys, a Boston-based mutual insurance company for health care professionals.

Judson holds a bachelor's degree in English literature and European history from Connecticut College, and a law degree from Suffolk University.

First deputy insurance commissioner Gary Anderson will run the Division of Insurance until a new commissioner is named.
