The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has ordered the New York City Transit Authority and one of its maintenance superintendents to pay $52,500 in damages for retaliating against an employee for cooperating with safety inspectors.
OSHA said the New York Public Employees Safety and Health Bureau inspected the Transit Authority's Linden Yard maintenance shop in August 2012. Inspectors asked about the condition of a drill press. Mark Ruggerio, acting superintendent of the shop, told them the machine was not operating.
