The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training is proposing to lower the workers’ compensation assessment for a third consecutive year.
The department is proposing to reduce the assessment rate to 6.25% from 6.5%. Last year, the department dropped the assessment to 6.5% from 6.65%. And in 2014, it lowered the rate from 6.75%.
The department is accepting written comments on the proposed reduction until June 22. A hearing will be scheduled if requested by 25 people, an association with at least 25 members, or a state agency.
