The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed nearly $70,000 in penalties for a packaging company after one its employees’ hands was degloved in a machine.
OSHA cited New Bremen, Ohio-based Safeway Packaging Inc. for failing to train its workers in safety procedures, failing to use locking devices on machinery when conducting maintenance and servicing and not providing personal protective equipment. It issued three serious violation citations and two repeat citations since the company had been cited for similar breaches in 2012.
