While a South Carolina stripper will collect workers’ comp benefits for a shooting injury, researchers at the University of Minnesota say erotic dancers in Minneapolis face the risk of more routine injuries and generally have no coverage.
“Because entertainers are independent contractors, they do not receive paid workers’ compensation,” the study by the university’s Urban Research and Outreach Engagement Center said. “A number of entertainers were uninsured and many are on publicly subsidized health care.”
