Sink Sets Fund Assessment at 0.98%

Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink last Thursday approved a 0.98% assessment on workers' compensation premiums to support the state Workers' Compensation Administration Trust Fund.The assessment, which covers calendar year 2011, is based on the fund balance and the anticipated cost of running the Florida Division of Workers' Compensation next year.The fund also contributes money to the budget of the Florida First District Court of Appeal, which handles appeals from all 32 of the state's judges of compensation claims.Sink increased the assessment from .80% for 2010.
