House Passes Domestic Worker Bill

The Massachusetts House passed a bill establishing labor standards and other protections for nannies, caregivers and other domestic workers, including the right to file workers’ compensation claims, according to a report by the Associated Press.The House on Wednesday voted 126-22 to pass Senate Bill 2132, the so-called “domestic worker bill of rights” introduced by the Senate Committee on Ways and Means.S 2132 would require employers to provide workers’ compensation coverage for domestic workers, pay overtime and grant meal and rest periods.
