Dr. David Fletcher says he understands opposition to physician dispensing. After Illinois placed cost controls on physician-dispensed drugs, some doctors began offering novel dosages to skirt the restrictions.
"Some of my physician brethren are prescribing these high-dose products primarily for financial gain that are not pharmacy-dispensed prescriptions," Fletcher told WorkCompCentral. "There's no clinical reason to change to those dosage formulations except to make more money and skirt the reforms that were put in place in 2012."
