The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued citations with fines totaling $22,500 against Cargill Inc., following the agency's investigation of a June 14 accident in which an employee at a Topeka, Kan., grain elevator was killed.
OSHA cited Cargill for allegedly failing to "cover designated actions for employees to take following an engulfment accident."
Published accounts of incident reported that the worker, identified as Scott Grossoehme of Mayetta, Kan., was buried under thousands of bushels of grain for several hours before rescuers could reach him.
