The House on Monday failed by one vote to pass a bill that would reverse case law and prohibit compensation for injured workers fired for misconduct after being reassigned to light duty.
The bill got a favorable vote of 66-14 but needed 67 votes to reach the two-thirds threshold in the 100-member House. Several representatives either did not vote or were absent.
The House then immediately expunged the vote late Monday, paving the way for a revote at any time, said House Chief Information Officer Cecillea Pond-Mayo.
