The board of directors for the Montana State Fund will meet Friday to discuss a possible rate reduction.
Montana Insurance Commissioner Matt Rosendale in February approved a 17.2% loss cost filing by the National Council on Compensation Insurance. The rate cut would go into effect July 1.
NCCI attributed the decrease to more favorable loss experience over the past few years. Lost-time claim frequency continues to decline, the state has seen a downward trend in average indemnity cost per case, and average medical costs per case have been flattening.
