A Southern California custodian who pleaded guilty to making a fraudulent statement to receive workers’ compensation benefits was sentenced to 90 days in county jail.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office said Garrett Moore, 35, injured his right shoulder in December 2017 while working as a custodian for the Simi Valley Unified School District. He was taken off work and started receiving temporary disability benefits.
York Risk Services reportedly learned that Moore owned a carpet cleaning business, although he said he didn’t have an active role in the operation.
