Cost Savings From Generic Lyrica Already Being Realized, PBM Reports

Introduction of generic Lyrica is already bringing cost savings to workers’ comp, according to a pharmacy benefit manager. Lyrica is the brand name for pregabalin, a drug used to treat neuropathic pain. The patent for Lyrica expired at the end of June, and the Food and Drug Administration on July 19 approved multiple generics for the drug. MyMatrixx said that by August, 85% of pregabalin being prescribed in its book of business was a generic form of the drug.
