Federal Informants Paid Millions in Comp Benefits

Word on the street is "snitches get stitches," but the investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Justice says informants working with the Drug Enforcement Agency also get federal employee workers' compensation and death benefits without any oversight or review. One confidential source collected an estimated $353,075 in comp benefits under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act between 1997 and 2012 while he also received more than $2 million in payments for information provided to the DEA, according to an Office of the Inspector General audit report published Tuesday.
