Agency Reports 20,065 Disputed Claims in 2008

The Michigan Workers’ Compensation Agency issued a report showing 20,065 initial voluntary payment claims that were disputed in 2008.The agency reported it excluded any claims in which a Form 104A  (contest of carrier’s payments) or 104C (application for mediation or hearing) was filed or in which partial benefits were initially paid.The average for all companies was 10.18%.The agency reported that the numbers “are lower than in past years,” because it is now counting a claim as disputed only if it receives the Form 107 (notice of dispute) before the initial Form 7...
