China will end its fragmented work-injury insurance system by extending its coverage to 27.2 million people working in the nonprofit sector, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security(MLSS) in Beijing said Wednesday.
China has a fragmented work-injury insurance system that sets differing compensation rules for the various work sectors: government, for-profit companies, nonprofit enterprises, public institutions and social organizations.
"This system has caused chaotic counterclaim activities from employees of various work units," said ministry spokesman Hu Xiaoyi.
