Death from Heat Stress Triggers $6,900 in Fines

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has proposed fines totaling $6,900 against a Maryland paving contractor, following the heat-related death of a company worker in the District of Columbia in June.OSHA said in a press release it cited LH Musser & Sons, of Clarksburg, Md., for one serious violation of federal safety regulations after a worker became ill from heat-related stress while paving a church parking lot in the District of Columbia.OSHA did not identify the worker but said he later died at a local hospital."This tragedy underscores the need for employers to...
