Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek signed a bill that would allow school districts to apply for an exemption from the requirement that self-insured employers demonstrate proof of financial viability with the Department of Consumer and Business Services.
Employers that self-insure for workers’ compensation are required to prove they have adequate staff to process claims promptly and the financial ability to make prompt benefit payments.
