The National Football League has filed a lawsuit against 33 insurance carriers, alleging they breached their duty to defend the league in 143 lawsuits filed by former football players and their wives because of alleged injuries.The league alleges the insurers have failed to honor the terms of commercial general liability policies that were issued as far back as 1968.
