Labor Cabinet Offers Free OSHA Training Aug. 20-24

The Kentucky Labor Cabinet will offer five days of free OSHA training for employers and employees, Aug. 20-24, in Gilbertsville.

Most of the nine classes will qualify for continuing education credit toward plumbing, HVAC and electrical license renewals, and can help reduce workplace injuries, the cabinet announced Tuesday. 

The classes are:

Monday, Aug. 20

  • Overview of the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Program, enforcement and voluntary compliance.
  • Injury and illness record-keeping.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

  • New OSHA rules on exposure to crystalline silica.
  • Permits and training required for working in confined spaces.

Wednesday, Aug. 22 

  • Communicating to employees about job hazards, including chemicals; labeling, safety data sheets and training.
  • Requirements for protecting workers from bloodborne pathogens.

Thursday, Aug. 23

  • Fall protection standards, training and protection, parts 1 and 2; includes hands-on use of ladders, harnesses and lanyards.

Friday, Aug. 24

  • Wage and hour laws, and record-keeping.
