A California appellate court denied the prosecution’s challenge to the dismissal of a felony workers’ compensation insurance fraud charge and the reduction of the remaining felony charge to a misdemeanor.
On Aug. 17, 2015, Evelyn Rivera went to see a doctor at Kaiser Permanente Hospital because she had injured her left shoulder. Rivera reported that her shoulder had been hurting for the last few days.
Rivera underwent surgery on her shoulder to repair a torn rotator cuff in February 2016.
