City's Firefighter Injuries On Decline, but Service Calls Are Up

Medical and indemnity paid to injured firefighters for the City of Norwalk, Connecticut, fell in 2021, the second consecutive year of declining workers' compensation rates for the 140-member fire department. Injured firefighters were paid $330,00 in benefits last year, a 45% drop from $606,000 paid in 2020, according to a report by the Middletown Press newspaper.
