Fatality from Chemical Exposure Brings $81,900 in OSHA Fines

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed $81,900 in fines against a Wisconsin aluminum foundry after an employee died from chemical exposure. The 55-year-old employee was found unresponsive in a restroom at Elkhart Lake’s Bremer Manufacturing Co. last May, according to an OSHA release. He had been employed at the facility, working with resin-containing isocyanates, for 38 years. Isocyanates are considered a hazardous chemical by the administration.
