On Thursday, October 24, the California Senate Industrial Relations Committee will hold a hearing to inquire as to why the state Department of Finance has ordered SCIF to abide by the state's hiring freeze, despite the fact that the insurer is not dependent on taxpayer funds.SCIF's volume has grown tremendously and the carrier wants to hire approximately 1,000 employees to handle the additional work.
