Gov. Approves Mandatory PDMP Consultation With Opioid Prescriptions

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf signed into law a bill that requires prescribers and dispensers to check with the newly created prescription drug monitoring database each time a patient receives an opioid or benzodiazepine. Senate Bill 1202, by Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock, also requires prescribers and dispensers to update the PRMP within 24 hours of writing or dispensing medication.
