WCB Proposes Cuts to Surgery, Radiology Conversion Factors

A revised fee schedule proposed by the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board and the Department of Labor and Workforce Development would cut by more than 15% the conversation factors used to calculate reimbursement for surgery and radiology. Alaska’s medical fee schedule is based on Medicare’s Resource-Based Relative Value Scale, which assigns “relative value units” to various services that are multiplied by a conversion factor to determine the dollar amount owed to a provider.
