A proposal to make post-traumatic stress disorder compensable for first responders in Georgia has failed at the committee level.
HB 855, introduced in January, would have provided workers' compensation benefits for first responders who experience one or more psychologically traumatic events on the job and are thereafter diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder by a mental health professional.
Its sponsor, Rep. Gregg Kennard, a Democrat, confirmed Tuesday that the bill would not proceed.
