Department Posts Revised Draft Rules to Regulate TPAs

The Texas Department of Insurance has issued a revised informal draft of rules to regulate third-party administrators (TPAs), which may answer concerns raised by stakeholders on an earlier revised draft.Steve Nichols, Insurance Council of Texas workers’ compensation manager, told WorkCompCentral Friday he asked council members to review the new draft and report any concerns before the Oct. 27 comment deadline.The council reviewed an earlier informal draft of proposed rules and has identified some matters that required attention, Nichols said.
