Senate Passes Bill Authorizing Therapy Assistants to Treat Injured Workers

The New York Senate unanimously passed a bill that would allow assistants for physical therapists and occupational therapists to treat injured workers. The Senate on Tuesday voted 61-0 to pass Assembly Bill 1204. The Assembly passed the bill May 23, according to the Senate website, which did not provide a vote count. The bill would allow assistants to treat injured workers under the direction and supervision of licensed and authorized therapists. Therapists, referring physicians, physician assistants, podiatrists or nurse practitioners would be required to maintain treatment records in case...
