A New York lawmaker introduced language that she says intends to provide injured workers with an initial hearing in every case so they can appear before a referee to understand their rights and obligations under the state's workers' compensation laws.
Sen. Jessica Ramos, D-Queens, also said in a statement of purpose attached to Senate Bill 2234 that the measure would provide all parties with a hearing within 45 days of filing a request so that issues can be resolved quickly.
