WCD Proposes Changes to Self-Insurer Disability Rating Rules

The Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division is holding a hearing Oct. 17 on proposed changes to its rules governing self-insured employers and disability ratings. In addition to revising language to make the rules easier to read, the WCD is proposing substantive changes to OAR 436-050, “Employer/Insurer Coverage Responsibility.” The rules would clarify requirements for use of irrevocable standby letters of credit and how the director can use the letters to assure continued payments if a self-insured employer defaults.
