The Texas Senate unanimously passed an amended bill that would delay by four years the scheduled sunset review for the Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation, Office of Public Insurance Counsel and Office of Injured Employee Counsel.
The Senate on Tuesday voted 31-0 to pass an amended Senate Bill 1659, moving to 2029 the sunset reviews that were scheduled for 2025.
System stakeholders and the four agencies were not expecting the change in the sunset review schedule.
