The filing fee collected by the The Louisiana Office of Workers' Compensation will increase to $50 from $30 on Feb. 1, and several other fees will also increase under emergency rules adopted by the state Workforce Commission.
Patrick Robinson, who up until Friday was director of the office, said in an email to WorkCompCentral that the commission approved the rules, in part, to offset an $800,000 mid-year cut to the office's budget. He said the hike in the filing fee and other fee increases are expected to generate $250,000 in annual revenues.
